“Bacteriophage trigger antiviral immunity and prevent clearance of bacterial infection” this is a recent research article published in Science.
It is one of the really interesting research article and excellent research work, really appreciate the authors. But it has nothing to disprove the therapeutic potential of phages. The study was about the temperate filamentous bacteriophages, and phage researchers are aware of the role of temperate phages both in the environment and human body (phageome). Though temperate phages are abundant in the human body, it should be noted that phages which are undergoing lysogenic cycle are not used in phage therapy. That is the reason why “the phages belonging to the order Caudovirales are used for therapy”.
